27A – Reading Reflection No. 3
I read: The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users, Guy Kawasaki.
1. The general theme of this book is just a bunch of small points to better your presence on social media. It speaks about the importance of building a foundation, and gives different ways such as having a good profile picture showing that you are dynamic and friendly. Your cover photo should tell a story about yourself. He also speaks of things such as a bio being important to get your mantra out and have key search words. Besides building a foundation he also goes over amass digital assets, optimize your profile, get more followers, and integrate it into different things.
2. This book connected with what I learned in ENT 3003, because it showed how social media can be helpful if you use it correctly, but it is easy for it to blend in with others and become ineffective. This class and the book really emphasized being unique and showing your personality.
3. I would tell everyone to bring up their linked in or some other form of social media used in business, and have everyone stand up, and read off a list of basic things that everyone has and have people sit down when I said it. The point of this is that everyone will probably sit down really quick and I will use it as a point that they are all just blending in and not standing out.
4. My aha moment was just seeing that there is nothing special about my linked in and seeing all the ways I could stand out to recruiters and businesses.

Hi Matthew,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a really interesting book. Especially today where social media is such a big part of our world and we might miss the many ways we could use it to better ourselves as young entrepreneurs. It looks like you learned a lot from the book and I think the exercise that you developed for the class could actually be really helpful.
Dear Matthew,

I think in today's social world, I believe bettering your presence on social media can be beneficial. There are many different ways, from my knowledge, that social media can help your business. For example, you can use Facebook or Instagram as a marketing tool.
