26A – Celebrating Failure
1. This semester I had to drop one of my classes. I did poorly on the first exam and had to do good on the second exam to make up for it, but then I did bad on the second exam, so I was pretty upset about it.
2. I learned to not let myself be to be stressed about it, and that it would be more productive to think about how I could improve myself and have a clear head space when I retake it next semester. I have all As in my other classes, so I realized that I can’t let the disappointment of retaking this class distract me from my studies and have it affect my other classes.
3. I think failure is important to have once in a while, because it is important to be able to put things in perspective and not get too comfortable in life. If you do not fail in life, it means that you are not taking any risks, and will never reach your full potential. I feel like this class has showed me the importance of having risk in life, and how sometimes taking on risk can have a huge payoff.

Hi Matthew,
ReplyDeleteI understand how hard this can be especially when we are not used to not doing well in school. I think it is very important for us to learn to relax a little and to not put so much pressure on ourselves. I can see how this experience can be a really growth opportunity for you. Great Job!
Dear Matthew,
ReplyDeleteI too have had to drop a course before. I Believe everyone can correlate to a moment they finished unsuccessfully or not as well as they hoped in a class. When I find I am in danger of failing or doing poorly ina class, I try to either try to find other helpful resources to study or change the way I study. This is because I find I sometimes need extra help, or it was poor study habits that prevent me from a good grade.
Hey Matthew!
ReplyDeleteI think this semester has bee. hard on everyone. Personally, I didn’t do great on my first chemistry exam this semester so I know how you feel. I really like that you don’t let yourself get stressed as I go by the same principle. Stressing out and being upset is not going to change my grade, my habits, or anything. It really just has the potential to make things worse. I agree that failure is important because it can help you make different decisions the next time. Great reflection!
