18A – Create a Customer Avatar
My prototypical customer would be anyone in Gainesville. Since this is a college town, I picture them to be a UF student who eats out a lot. For my customer I picture my sister because she dresses very hippie and always lectures me on not using plastic straws. This segment is the segment I would most benefit from because they would be the ones choosing restaurants with better alternatives to plastic straws, and ones that work better than paper ones. My customer would actually be the restaurants in Gainesville, that would be purchasing from me as a distributer, but I like to focus on their customers, because if I can show the need and business generated from these customers than the restaurants would want to buy from me. This customer would be a college student that enjoys socializing with their friends by going out to eat multiple times a week. They would like to post on snapchat pictures of their food so it would be important to make the straws ascetically pleasing.
My customer avatar is similar to me in that I am a college student that does go out to eat in Gainesville multiple times a week to socialize with friends. I think that this is not just a coincidence, but that I found paper straws annoy me every time and wanted to find a solution to them. A lot of entrepreneurs start their business solving a problem in their lives, knowing that it is a problem for others too.

Dear Matthew,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a good job of describing your avatar. Anyone in Gainesville, who eats out a lot, is a pretty fair description. However, maybe you need to be a little more specific. For example, is your avatar a certain age, major, what hobbies does he or she have? These descriptions would have helped paint a clearer picture of your customer.
Hey Matthew!
ReplyDeleteI liked how you kept your avatar very broad rather than stereotyping or honing in on one specific demographic. I think that this assignment can be difficult with zero typing profiles based off of product or service. I think that most businesses are very universal and who they can serve. I think you did a great job by choosing a population but not a certain gender, race, etc. Great job!
Dear Mathew,
ReplyDeleteI like at least for this product that you didn't narrow down your avatar into one very specific type of person. i think it is cool for an assignment to do the one specific target audience but at least for me i would want to target as many people as i can so that i can bring in higher annual revenues. Also i like how you kept your prototypical customer realistic because i have seen some that are really off, so i think you did a great job.
