8A – Solving The Problem
I feel like a good solution to the problem of the plastic straw ban in Gainesville would be setting up a distributor that can offer better alternatives. This can include papaya leaf straws, bamboo straws, glass straws, stainless steel straws, straws made from wheat straw, biodegradable plastic straws, edible straws, and silicone straws. If a distributor could work with local companies to offer better options, Than companies may not resort to the paper straws. Paper straws could be a viable option if their design was improved, and made more durable. I also feel that restaurants could make a profit by selling these alternatives, such as if someone forgets their stainless steel straw, then a restaurant could sell them one.
Dear Matthew,
ReplyDeleteI think you offer an adequate solution to the problem of the plastic straw ban in Gainesville. Offering papaya leaf straws, bamboo straws, glass straws, stainless steel straws, straws made from wheat straw, biodegradable plastic straws, edible straws, and silicone straws would surely attract a vast market. For distribution, there is a way to buy the supplies of straws and sell them for a profit on Amazon.
Hey Matthew!
ReplyDeleteI think that the use of papaya leaf, what straw, and biodegradable plastic straws are a good start to your idea. I do, however, think that for companies around Gainesville things like glass and stainless steel straws can be too expensive if they're giving these straws out and if they're not, be a hassle to clean properly in terms of health inspector regulations. Overall, I think that biodegradable and compostable plastic straws are the best option as well as sturdy straws like bamboo. Nice work!
